Good fake tanner products and how to use?

I bought these tantowel towelette things that you just rub on like a baby wipe. My hands look gross even though I washed them well %26amp; some water must have splashed a bit and now I have "water spots" by my wrists! Plus you have to wait about 4 hours until you can let your skin get wet which is really unrealistic during the day and I am terrified that either I will drool or sweat at night and wake up even worse looking! LOL

I want to try either the Dove, Jergens or Olay lotions but wondered if they work more like a makeup than a tanner? I dont want anything that will just wash off in the shower or at the beach/pool? I like the idea that it is subtle and you can gradually get darker. Any advise for a good product and tips to apply it? i want both for the body and the face. I dont have much money to spend on these types of products so the spray on tanning companies and the high end expensive products are out for me, as are tanning booths and such. Thank!

I was just like you, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a fake tan! I use Jergens, and I'm not sure that it works because I think I bought the wrong kind for my skin tone (I bought the one for fair skinned people, and I think I might get the one for medium skinned next time), but I know it makes your skin sparkly and makes it shimmer, and it smells really good. I would suggest that you don't use the Dove because one of my friends used it, and 2 months later, she still had orange streaks on her legs! Plus that washes off in the shower, and the Jergens doesn't, and if you use it for a week consecutivly, then you will get to the maximum tan. I always put it on in the morning after my shower, and it just rubs in like any other lotion.
Reply:If u go to bath and body works u can get some awesome hot tanning products.
Reply:clinique has a really good self-tanner. The lotion is clear so it doesn't get all over the place. Fusion at sephora is also unbelievable. Its a clear spray and you can see it working about an hour later and doesn't have that weird self-tanner smell. Plus it uses your bodie's natural chemicals to tan so it looks natural and not orangy like most other self tanners do. Also, for the water marks thing, I use to get that too so now what I do is I use an antibacterial lotion and apply it to my hand and forearms, it works awesome. No water spots and you get only the places you really need. As for the cheaper stuff, I've used most of them and they are generally just a waste of money. They don't do much if you already have dark skin and they tend to make you look "dirty" on light skin. Get the good stuff, you won't have to use as much and it lasts longer and looks better. In the end you'll actually be spending less!
