I just use 50 spf Banana Boat Sunblock! I love the smell. I haven't tried the spray yet. Does it work well??

Is it ok to use hair dye and sunless tanning products being a nursing mom?

yes!!

here's an awesome link for all breastfeeding stuff:

***** sorry here's that link: http://www.kellymom.com/health/lifestyle...

HAIR: There is no evidence that hair care products (dyes, permanents, or hair relaxers) used by a nursing mom have any effect on her breastfeeding baby.

TANNING: Because these are topically applied, very little would absorb through the skin into the bloodstream and therefore into your milk. They should not be a problem for the breastfeeding mom and baby. Do be careful about applying it on the breast - make sure baby doesn't get any in his mouth.

The spray tanning booths (also called UV-free tanning, airbrush tanning, spray on tanning, etc.) come under the category of self-tanning products. To prevent baby ingesting the self-tanning lotion, wash the self-tanning product from your breasts before nursing.

Why does my skin look like a giraffe after applying sunless tanning products?

It looks splotchy as if I was sprayed with paint. I only used the creams. Is there a technique or a product that will prevent this?

Why does my skin look like a giraffe after applying sunless tanning products?
The product could be a factor. The next is the application technique. The texture of the cream should also be easy to spread and blend.

I firmly believe in airbrush sunless tanning salons.

They are the best ways to achieve a tan without the splotchy streaks and the harmful rays of the sun.
Reply:You have combination skin, the oils you produce block the creams and wash off, leaving non oily areas tanned and the rest white.

I had the same issue, I don't really know how to solve it unless you just tan naturally or at a salon.
Reply:Another option is your skin is not properly moistureized. You could have dry spots and the skin is absorbing more than the others. Try properly exfoliating and moisturizing before applying sunless tanning products.

What's fast ways to get a tan outdoors? I don't want to use sunless tanning products.?

I was wondering if there's anyone out there that have any helpful hints or tricks they use.

What's fast ways to get a tan outdoors? I don't want to use sunless tanning products.?
Honestly, I just go outside, lay on the tramp, and spray water on me. It attracts the sun, and makes you tan pretty quickly.
Reply:So you want to risk age spots, early wrinkling, leathery skin and possible skin cancer, right?
Reply:try swimming without sunblock. that worked for me. and tanning doesn't alway's cause cancer. just OVER tanning dose. and getting sun cancer isn't that likely
Reply:Come to AZ! I know that if you swim, or float in the pool, you can stand the sun a lot better than dry baking in it. And somehow I think you tan better in the water. Something about the light reflecting or something. And get dark tanning oil to help hydrate your skin and speed up the tanning process.

What do you think of the new sunless tanning products? Thumbs up or down. What is the best product for it?

Thumbs Down!! Most of them claim to not streak or look orange, but they have other problems. One area looks darker, you have to constantly reapply, and your face is always a shade darker. Going to a Mystic Tan salon is your best bet. They are professional and you will look great!

Thumbs down.

Not into phony.

Important to learn to love yourself including your color.

speaking as a guy I would have to say thumbs down. it's so obvios when someone has used one and it looks kinda gross if you get close to them.
Reply:I don't like them really, seems to make me orange, and streaky, let me know if you find out any good ones. Thanks
Reply:i personally use sunless tanning products and i have to say that some actually work well. The sublime products from Loreal and Neutrogena tanning products work too. As long as you do it correctly, it will look natural.
Reply:thumbs up to the jergens natural glow daily moisturizer. it will give you 2 or 3 shades.
Reply:horrible. get a real tan. its not that hard. if there is no sun in your town, then dont do it. it wont look natural to have a tan in winter

How can I get a natural glowing tan without using tanning products?

I dont want to ruin my skin though.

How can I get a natural glowing tan without using tanning products?
seriously?
Reply:tan outside?

duh!
Reply:Slather on lots of sunscreen, and go play a sport. Swimming, tennis, anything. Take a class, join a club/team. Because when you run around in the sun all day, you'll definitely get a glowing tan. Trust me. I take swimming and tennis lessons, and my skin is always tan, and my friends are always asking me how I get my skin like that.

Also, you can just spend an hour at the beach or in your backyard in the sun. Just lie on a towel, read a book, sleep, whatever. In a few weeks, your skin will be glowing. Also, to bring out the natural glow, use Dove Natural Glow soap (I don't know the exact name, but I know that the soap is a tannish color).
Reply:hmm. im not really sure. i use to use tanning products. but its such a pain rubbing it everywhereeee and getting it on my clothes and stuff. and i love to lay out, but its too cold for that now and i always hated thinking about when im older and the wrinkles ill have, and plus the scare of skin cancer. and it was boring. so then i just switched to bronzer, lol. it gives you such a healthy glow. just mkae sure you dont buy too dark or orange kind, start off with a light one. and for your body? i guess id say just stick to a tanning lotion, theres really nothing else you could do. hope i helped:]
Reply:If you have the cash, try visiting a salon for an airbrush tan (not the spray tan booth). It only last a week or so, but it looks great and there is no UV damage. Airbrush tanning is what most of Hollywood does now. I have had it done several times, and was always pleased with the results. The price varies, but usually falls between $30-$50. It's great if you have a special event - quick and easy. I purchased a salon quality airbrush kit a few years ago for way more money then I'd like to admit, and I just didn't get the same results as in the salon. There is a reason there are professionals that get paid good money to do their job! :) It's definitely not as easy as it looks. Anyway... There are a ton of options out there, but salon airbrushing is the one I had the best luck with.
Reply:Spray tan, or tan towels.

What is the best kind of sunless tanning products?

Like a lotion or spray that I can buy at Target.

What is the best kind of sunless tanning products?
Neutrogena has worked well for me for something you can buy at Target. My favorite is Fake Bake and is available in salons/spas. I like lotions better than sprays because sprays make a mess on the floor and then you step in it and the bottom of your feet turn orange!
Reply:Lotions: Coprtone Endles Sumer (Med/Drk) got me darkest. Air Brush are THE most even tans

Airbrush: product by Banana Boat @Target.

It was 2 much trouble after a while so I got a membrship @ a salon 4 the Mystic Tan. LUV it! Report It

Reply:I've bought MicroMist™ Tanning Sunless Spray by Neutrogena. I've applied only after getting a slight tan.
Reply:None of them dear, I've tried them all, and they are always streaky, and at the very least, you have a crazy line where you either A) wash your hands right after application to avoid orange-brown palms or B) your gloves went to, if you applied it that way. My best suggestion to you is to have someone else apply the lotion (whatever you feel is best to gamble with, at least start with a light shade) or even better, go to a tanning salon that offers Mystic or comparable spray tanning. Should not be more than $25 or so, even less if you buy a package deal, and looks alot more natural. Good Luck
Reply:the best one ive found is the jergens glow stuf or w.e its called. it gives you a subtle tan but you can eventually tell, and now they even have one for your face that wont make you break out
Reply:Alright, first off...are you pretty fair skinned? If you have "porcelain" type skin then I don't recommend any of the products-I've tried a few and none worked for me. Jergen's makes one in lotion form, I can't recall the name, but I don't recommend it. Horrible smell and streaky. A spray tan professionally done would probably be your best bet, the tanning beds aren't very healthy.

Has anyone tried any of the sunless tanning products that don't make u look orange?

I like the Jergen's line. Check that out. It has for light, medium and dark skintones and it never made me look orange. Also not so expensive and moisturizes very well!

Hope i helped!

Reply:Yea, its ok, but St Tropez is still the best. It goes on very evenly, and as long as you dont rub it into your knees and elbows and wipe any creases after like your underarms and ankles, you'll look great!
Reply:I recommend Sunless Tanning Lotion by Mary Kay. It's safe, fragrance-free, and gives you a natural looking glow. My customers who have used sunless tanning lotions from other companies (famous designers) like Mary Kay's the best. It doesn't leave you orange or streaky. Just mix it with equal parts of moisturizer, rub all over, and wipe away around your ankles, knees, and elbows.

What tanning products around the house?

are there any (would vegtable oil work)?

What tanning products around the house?
A few years ago I would lay outside with crisco on... yeah it gets you SO dark, but i'm thinking it's probably not to safe... but it works.
Reply:johnson and johnson baby oil works amazingly
Reply:Dont use vegetable oil. YOU WILL BURN. You can try to use baby oil it works good but remember it will attract the sun ALOT and you may burn also just put lots of regular lotion
Reply:Sweetie don't use baby oil or any oils for that matter. You should protect your skin with sunblock always. Skin cancer is the easiest form of cancer to get and it's probably the most preventable. Using oils can burn your skin to the point of blistering and scarring. If you want an instant tan you should try a self tanner instead.

When using fake tanning products what is the best product to use?

I use Clinique...just make sure you scrub before hand to avoid streaking and orange tones and moisturize places that are dry like your hands, feet, ankles, knees and elbows so that you don't get color grab in those areas...The best of the best is Clinique's Foam mousse self tanner because the color is brown instead of orange and it doesn't drip...also it develops faster...

When using fake tanning products what is the best product to use?
Jergens . It looks real .
Reply:I Love any of the Banana Boat self tanners. They are cheap and do not streak. You can get them at Grocery, Drug and Department stores.

Reply:Coppertone self tanners are good.
Reply:Before using an fake tanning products be sure to always exfoliate your skin. It helps get dead skin off and helps the self tanning to not leave streaks. I use Avon's Satin Glow Body Moisturizer. It "tans" your skin while moisturizing. It doesn't leave behind that "self tanning" smell either. You can read more about it on my website if you want, www.youravon.com/ kapricewilliams (no spaces) HTH You can order it on their too just choose direct delivery! :o) Thanks!
Reply:I think for the body the aerosol types are best, I have used the Neutrogena one, and it was great. For the face, Jergens is the best. Jergens cream is ggod for body too, but the aerosol is so much quicker, and does not streak

Do tanning products cover spots and blemishes, and how long does the tan last.?

DON'T DO IT!!!

i tried that and...the red heads and splotches are STILL gross and dark and junk...i think i even BROKE OUT MORE because o that!!! it makes you orange in many cases AND stains your clothing...i also tried mixing it with my Nivea lotions and St. Ives lotions and it sucked:'(...it wears off with time and soon you have random orange spots all over and then when you reapply you still have spots and dark light weird spots...

basically...

i don't suggest it...AT ALL

i tried it...

i LOVE having pale skin now:DxD

...and my acne has been getting better:D

Do tanning products cover spots and blemishes, and how long does the tan last.?
Depending on how your skin reacts to self tanners, it can cause spots and blemishes to become darker.

Use caution and test to make certain this doesn't happen.

The tan usually lasts for a couple weeks. It really depends on how quickly your skin sloughs off and how hard you scrub.
Reply:I have found self tanners used on my face only highlight any blackheads i have :(

Exfoliate your face well first!
Reply:Be careful with self tanners- they can cause further breakouts. Tan usually lasts 1-2 days.

We carry a face and body bronzer- it is great for all skin types- you put on as needed for a healthy glow.

Good Luck

If I use sunless tanning products to cover stretchmarks/dark pigments, will the spots be worse after -->?

...the sunless tan fades away? Will they be darker n more noticeable? How long will the sunless tan last?

If I use sunless tanning products to cover stretchmarks/dark pigments, will the spots be worse after --%26gt;?
oh no....don't try the sunless tanning products, they do not work at all....they turn your skin organge. go to a tanning booth if you want a tan. TRUST ME
Reply:Stretch marks are scarred tissue. In scarred tissue the proteins are densely packed, this is what gives them a white appearence. Tanning products will darken the skin but not the stretch marks making them stand out more.
Reply:Look - stretch marks are nothing to be ashamed off. It is a natural occurrence or byproduct of giving birth. Besides, you are not flaunting your belly in public. Only your husband sees them and he should not be concerned about them. Love goes beyond that. What does he love more.... your exterior/outer appearance or your inner beauty!
Reply:i have 2 kids...ages 2 and 4.....i have stretch marks on my legs and buttocks, but they are lightening up pretty good.i use neutrogena sunless tanning foam and it works fine,as long as you put it on right. it does help hide stretch marks, trust me on this. i do have to show my body off for work, and i'm thankful for tanning and sunless tanning!
Reply:It won't change how they look afterwards but stretch marks don't take color as well as the rest of your body so they're still going to be very noticeable (when I did this mine were even more noticeable)

How long it lasts depends on the product. If you do it at home it should say how long it lasts on the bottle, if you're having someone do it just ask them.

Sunless tanning products?

do you guys recommend anything? i need to tan by tomorrow for a strapless dress it hasnt been sunny at all. what should i use? i dont want to look orange though.

Sunless tanning products?
Nutragena Build-A-Tan works really good you can notice immediately and looks really natural
Reply:If it was me, I would go to a tanning salon for a one time visit, and then stop at the local store for a bronzer, medium or dark, any brand is good, I've tried them all, basically I purchase by coupon, they are all good now. Not orange. But stick with name brands you are familiar with.

Let it dry well before you are dressed and you will be fine.

It works.
Reply:Find someone who sells Mary Kay in your area. They have a great product.

Good luck.
Reply:St. Tropez is the best. It comes in lotion or Foam. I like the foam better though. You have to buy it in a tanning salon. They don't just sell it at CVS or places like that. If you have a beauty license or know some one that does they can buy it form beauty where house store. I would call around to some tanning salons in your area and ask them.

The stuff is great though. Works immediately and no streaks. The color stays looking great for a few days even after showering. I hope you can find it because it is the best. I have tried so many and the tan never looks good. I'm very pale so it is hard to find one that doesn't look funny and this product works great.
Reply:Go to a mystic tanning booth, loosk natural and wont streak

Fake Tanning Products?

I use to tan but I really dont have the money to do it anymore, and plus I dont want to get cancer, so now I'm looking into getting FAKE tanners. I'm looking for something that will last more than a couple days, easy to put on, good size bottle, no orange streaks, doesnt cost too much (less than $10.00) and possible doesnt smell horrible??

Any help would be great.

Thanks!!!

Fake Tanning Products?
Go for any kind of brand that has a gradual tan. Like you apply some daily and slowly develop a tan.. apply as much or as little as want, and you can control the color.

Olay has some

Jergens

Vaseline

Dove

etc

they're all good and have the most natural results.

Jergans Natural Glow and Daily Moisterizer the same day I posted this, and I started using it the next day. It seems to be working great, and the smell I can handle! Thanks again!! Report It

Reply:well i have a salon bronze and it works wonders you would not believe I bought it from sallys beauty supplies for only 9.99 and it comes with one bottle but you also buy refills from theirs for like 7.99 good luck (best fake tan i have ever used)
Reply:I suggest you try 'Ambre Solaire' but be careful not too over-apply it as it can make you a bit orange.

Good Points

Smells fab, has a very strong apricot scent to it and that isn't a bad thing at all. I've tried many fake tans and quite a few smell disgusting but this one's a dream!

Bad Points

Depending on which strength you get whether it's normal or light, if it just isn't what you wanted, to be honest. It's never as brown or as golden as you want it but this fake tan does give you a nice, healthy glow.
Reply:Jergans Natural Glow and Daily Moisterizer is a great product.

Any self-tanning products that won't turn you orange?

i don't tan i just burn help!

Any self-tanning products that won't turn you orange?
Coppertone has a spray tan that works pretty well. My biggest complaint about all tanning products is the smell.
Reply:Uhmm Jergens Healthy Glow Lotion works well but its a more suble way to get a tanned look..because you only get slightly tanner each time you use it. But over all I recccomend it.
Reply:I agree with Precious lil Thing....

I use Jergens. They have 2 formulas, 3 shades. I use the Firming with the darkest shade. It definitely works, and the only thing to pay attention to is your foot area....Make sure you apply it evenly around your ankles and Achilles Tendons and toes! I was a little uneven because I neglected those areas, but I fixed it and now I'm pretty even. No orange, a nice bronzed glow!
Reply:There are a ton of lotions out there now that give you a natural tan all year long. Dove, Coppertone, Jergens are 3 that make them. I know the Jergens one works and I've heard the Dove one works really good too. I heard Neutrogena makes a really good spray on tan. All you really need to do is make sure it doesn't streak when you put it on and have someone help you with your back or any parts you can't reach. Also try standing up the entire time so it doesn't bunch behind your knees/elbows. Also when you wash your hands, make sure to wash between your hands really good (thats where it'll turn orange) and under your finger nails. Good luck!

Are those tanning products harmful for the skin?

I am talking about cremes and lotions that tans the skin for about 3 or 4 days.

Are those tanning products harmful for the skin?
Tanning with the self tanning lotions cannot hurt you. Its definatly 100 times better than sitting in the sun or getting in a tanning bed. If they were harmful to your skin they wouldnt be sold. And you dont get a orange color if you use a product that gradually tans your skin.
Reply:No but it leaves your skin with this ugly orange looking color.
Reply:No but it's just better not to use them.
Reply:They deffinitely can't be near as harmful as actually sunbathing or going to the tanning bed. That is a great way to get skin cancer by 35 and then you have ugly wrinkly looking skin. I don't "tan"(purposely spend extra time in the sun to do so) but i get a tan after swimming or something. being a guy, i've never really worried that much about it so i've never used tan creams or anything like that. Also depends on the product, some lotions might have an ingredient that may harm the skin. chek w/ a dermitologist on it first tho.

Are there ANY self-tanning products that work really well & look natural? What about the "mystic" tan places?

I've tried a couple things, and they either made me look ORANGE or they were streaky and obvious......

What about those "mystic tan" places where you go and get the spray-on tan? Are those worth the money or not?

Are there ANY self-tanning products that work really well %26amp; look natural? What about the "mystic" tan places?
Krylon Honey Oak spray paint works pretty good.
Reply:Mystic tan is good if someone is actually spraying you. If you are standing in a machine that sprays you it won't come out as good. And you need some time after you do it. Prepare for messiness.
Reply:I'm not sure that when people say "mystic tan" they all mean the same thing. I have been going to an actual Mystic Tan booth for several years now and I love it. You don't get showered, just a light spray, and you don't rub it in. You actually stand on a metal, magnetized floor, which draws the fine mist to your body and dries in seconds. You can't shower for 4-6 hours, so the color seems a little intense for the last hour or so, but I've never thought it looked orange. I have often waited a few hours and applied a scent neutralizer that I purchased at the salon, then gone to work without showering with no problem (if you do this it will get on your clothes, but it washes out easily).

I skip at least two days between visits and select the lightest setting (I am very fair) for the most natural color. The manufacturer of the spray claims that the color lasts five days, but I would argue more like three good days and a few fade days. Moisturize twice a day, don't shave every day and you will look great!

Also, I recommend signing up for some sort of unlimited use package, because individual visits are very costly. At my salon it is $25 a visit or $50 monthly for unlimited visits if you sign up for automatic drafts. Hope this helps!

Reply:more sun, and spell sun correctly,, or maybe,,,, u dont tan at all (GASP)
Reply:i have the same problem! i swear to you its impossible
Reply:Loreal sublime works well. It dosent turn you orange and is shimmery!
Reply:I think the only way it's going to happen is if you use self tanners, or sitting in the sun (dangerous) There's also those tanning spray booths at the tanning salons.
Reply:baby oil will definitely do the trick but really not good for you. Make sure you exfoliate deeply to get rid of dead skin, that will help!

wear shorts as much as possible so your legs are exposed to the sun even if you are not lying out.
Reply:Without sun, tanning products, or a tanning bed? I think you are stuck with white legs. But in my opinion, nobody will care but you. I personally think pale, smooth skin is beautiful. A deep tan looks unhealthy and will leave you with age spots and wrinkles at a young age. If you turn your skin into wrinkled leather trying to change its color, you aren't doing yourself any favors.

Look at Nicole Kidman. She's pale and beautiful. Do you think she's burning her legs to make they darker? No way!
Reply:sunless tanner. TRY THE KIND FOR FAIR SKIN TONES, and go to the website below for some helpful tips.

http://www.sunless.com/application/step....
Reply:Many people are tanner on the arms and upper body because they are more exposed in general than the legs to everyday sun. One way is to wear a 50 sunscreen on the tanner parts until the lower catches up. If you try a tanning bed you can wear a long sleeve shirt. I think its looks darker if you tan the sides of your legs also. Arms move around a lot and get more sun. The sides of the legs rarely get direct sun. Funny Ellen DeGeneres was talking about tanning the sides of her legs today on her show.
Reply:well this might help lay out side with your baithing suit on and lay there for the longest time u might get burnt but when it goes aways your tan

Garnier products and tanning lotion?

Garnier products and tanning lotion?
Garnier products are the best!!!!!!!!!!! Especially their volumizing shampoo system. Apply the gel to your roots then blow dry with a concentrator attachment lifting roots with fingers. Also in vest in the volumizing system. I think the best gradual tanner for the winter is lo-real tanning lotion.

Tanning bath products?

do anyone know if there is such a thing as a bath product that can give you a lasting tan?ive got skin cancer, ive used different tanning creams but it gets all streaky and i cant get it on even over the body

Tanning bath products?
Hi Linda.

Im sorry to hear of that. Ignore the first person that wont work you'll just smell like a cup of tea!

Ive researched and cant seem to find anything that will tan whilst in the bath. What creams have you tried, ive found if you go for a more expensive one you will generally get a better result. Have you tried a spray tan, i know Garner make one? Apaprt from that the only other option would be a tanning salon, have you tried there they could probably do the best streak free light tan.

Good Luck, i hope it all goes well for you x
Reply:My lebanese friend puts tea in her bath........I don't know if it works, but you could research that.

Hi, ladies what is the best self tanning products?

Im looking for one that dosent streak. I thought about going to a tanning salon but its so bad for your skin.

Hi, ladies what is the best self tanning products?
I just tried L'oreal Sublime Glow for Medium Skin Tones. It is a lotion that doesn't have that self-tanner stink. For the most part, it doesn't streak, you have to make sure you put it on evenly. It isn't color enriched, so you pretty much have to guess at it. But it is not difficult!! I have used it twice so far, and I have not streaked at all. You can, however, see a distinct line where I stopped at my feet. Watch your ankles, too. Don't put it on too thick there. It gives a natural glow and I am going to continue to use it. I have tried Neutrogena and other products in the past, and have been left with embarrassing streaking effects. The only girl wearing long sleeves in 80 degree heat. Yeah, that was me. Oh, the L'oreal is around $9 for 8 ounces. Good Luck!!
Reply:tanline. super moisturizing, too. no streaks and fades evenly. my friend has burn scars on her arms and she's able to fade the scar in with her natural color.
Reply:L'orel Tan
Reply:First you need to use a sugar scrub in the shower to get rid of any excess dead skin. With any tanning lotion you need to apply a light coat each time and gradually build it to the color you want. To do this, mix one part tanning lotion with one part moisterizer. This will give you less streaks and a better all over tan. For your face try one part tanning lotion to two parts facial moisterizer so it won't be as strong. Try Mary Kay sunless tanning lotion. It's not orange and it goes on smooth and also mixes well with moisterizers. Check out my website. 27 weeks preggo is it safe to use tanning products?

Ok since its summer i am going out alot ... going for walks and taking my son to the park etc.. but i am trying to limit how much i am in the sun because of all the dangers it has... (skin cancer and raising my body temperature ...stuff like that)... anyways... i doubt i am going to be able to get a nice tan like previous years... so i am just wondering if it is safe to use the at home tanning creams?...

I have the loreal bronze that i used during the winter before i got pregnant but i havent used it since...

is it safe to use this?...

THANKS!

27 weeks preggo is it safe to use tanning products?
being african american, i have never used a sunless tanner, but from my experience working in an OB/GYN practice, i do know that it is okay to use sunless tanning creams, lotions and foams. its going into the skin. and not that much of it is being absorbed into to blossd stream.

the body is an amazing work of art, and your skin sheds daily, thus it being temporary.

so go ahead, and get your bronze on.
Reply:Probably, because it's not doing any harm to your body, it's just a lotion with a bronzer in it that darkens the skin. Good luck and congrats on the baby!
Reply:Read the bottle and heed its warnings. It would also be helpful to bring the bottle in to your doctor's office and ask their opinion. With baby on the way, its really not worth it to take any risks. :) I'm sure your doctor will be able to recommend a brand of self-tanner that is safe.
Reply:if it is a cover lotion that is simply like make up, then if there are no chems, then sure,

but any chems should be an auto NO.

sun screens are ok

But chemicals are a NO.
Reply:Because pregnancy can do crazy things to our skin, I would highly suggest you test it first in a small area of skin to make sure it doesnt cause you to rash up or anything crazy.

My OB actually recommends self tanners over the sun or tanning beds but also told me to test above my hemline of my shorts to make sure that pregnancy hormones didnt cause any type of crazy reactions.
Reply:no, you cant the baby will die due to the chemicals.
Reply:I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I use L'Oreal Sublime Bronze. I love it and it's definitley safe to use during pregnancy. Plus, you're not exposing yourself to any type of UV rays and still looking tan. Good luck with everything!

Which Method of Tanning Do You Prefer, The Tanning Bed, Mystic Tan, or Other Sunless Tanning Products and Why?

What tanning method do you prefer because I need your suggestions on tanning preferences? What is the best one?

Which Method of Tanning Do You Prefer, The Tanning Bed, Mystic Tan, or Other Sunless Tanning Products and Why?
i personally use spray tan, "quick tan" sunless tanning mist from body drench. i don't go to tanning beds cause they can cause a risk of skin cancer and ever since i watched final destination 3 with the tanning bed scene I'm a little scared. during the summer...its the sun :) i like the quick tan it doesn't make me look orange.
Reply:The ONLY way that works for me is the natural sunlight!! I just get this dark tanning spray..I think its banana boat and spray it on before I go outside
Reply:tanning bed, because it looks natural, and won't rub off or look streaky
Reply:A tanning bed natural sun or a spray on tan they are all naturally but the spray on looks natural to people around here
Reply:Agree with first poster .. go outside more. Orange tinted is no replacement for an actual tan.
Reply:idk ...i can only like use the sun suntan cuzz who knows what happened in those others?
Reply:natural sun is the best for me. i'm mixed with some native american and i tan really really easily ( idk if it's the indian or what, but i know other people that are mixed with indian too and the same thing happens with them). but anyways, the tanning does give you a good tan, but it's WAY MORE harmful to your skin and has like 3 times more of a chance of getting skin cancer than the sun, and you know how bad of skin cancer the sun can give you. spray on tan probably works too, but i did my own spray on tan at home and it did some streaks, it was hard to get everything even, and it didn't last that long.
Reply:Well i never go tanning.im naturaly a tan color, but during the hot times i like to apply that banana boat thingys.
Reply:I go to the regular tanning bed 3x's a week for 15minutes then once or twice a month I hit the Stand up in replacement of one of my regular sessions. They have two different UV's so it helps even everything out and keeps me from burning in the sun. Also you need to use a really go tanning lotion you buy from the salon, I used to use the cheap stuff and now that I use the more expensive stuff I can really tell a difference. happy tanning!
Reply:I dont use tanning beds because of skin cancer, so instead I like either airbrush tanning or my at home lotion (St. Tropez tanning mousse from bath and body works). They both work great and look very even and natural on my fair skin.
Reply:mystic or the regular tanning
Reply:I like going outside.
Reply:under the sun

Opinions on gradual tanning products (for FACE)?

Which is for u the best progressive tanning lotion at an average price?

I'm using Johnsons Holiday for the first time, is it good?

What's ur favourite?

Opinions on gradual tanning products (for FACE)?
I'm using Jergen's Natural Glow for my face and my body. The face lotion was about $6 for a small tube, but it only takes a LITTLE bit to cover my face. And I have super pale skin and it doesn't make me look orangey or anything. I have had good results with it. It's gradual so it's easy to blend it and not get streaks, and you can control how dark you want it to get.
Reply:I use Glow and Steady from Bath and Body Works. It's the best I've ever used and it got the best reviews in a test done by Glamour magazine.
Reply:johnsons holiday? ya it's ok. you might want to shop around and find something new. that's what i sould do. try several types, but get small bottles. then compare the results.

hope i helped!!
Reply:jergens natural glow is my favorite works really good
Reply:I would suggest OLAY "Touch of Sun" products, it's a good trusted brand and really helped me with my pale skin. But make sure that with any of these that it's non-pore clogging or in Derm-talk "non-comedogenic".
Reply:The Number one sold self tanner for face and body is Clarins sold at Nordstrom .

No smell, no orange, and work with ur own pigment.

Can you use ordinary tanning products in tanning beds?

Do you have to use lotions specifically for tanning beds?

Can you use ordinary tanning products in tanning beds?
If you use outside tanning oils it can harm the acrylic that you lay on in the beds. Most places have it posted in the rooms that you can't use outside tanning oils.

You can, however, use an spf sunscreen LOTION. That's not bad for the beds.

If you don't want to use the lotions the tanning salon offers, you can use your regular everyday moisturizing lotion from home. Hydrated skin tans best, so any kind of lotion you want to use will help.

BUT, the lotions at the tanning salons have accelerators and bronzers in them and they really do work and are worth the money if you want to tan in a short period of time.
Reply:Yes, you can. I have done it with success. Salons don't like you to do it though, because it dirties their beds.
Reply:don't use outside tanning products as it breaks down the plastic on the beds. and to anyone who says its ok, you obviously don't own a place and have t o replace them. yes they are expensive but you don't have to use lotion unless you want to. i personally do it b/c i like the smell.
Reply:From my experiences, products made for tanning beds work better.

Another question about self tanning products?

I recently ordered a faux tanning lotion from a home shopping network. I haven't used it yet cuz i'm a little intimidated by it all. I have read some of the previous answers on here %26amp; most say not to use on the face. I want to know why not %26amp; then what should i do about color on my face? I am very pale %26amp; i would think the difference between a tan body %26amp; pale face is not going to look natural at all!! I would rather not rely on makeup bronzers only for the face..please help...i need your opinion!!

Another question about self tanning products?
well it's different for everyone, it can work for many people but for some it won't. It is best you test a little spot on your face first. Try a little light layer and see if you like it first.

Oil will go evenly on the face because our face is compose of oil, this will make the tan go evenly on the face. And if you recall, our cell membrane contains lipid layer, so don't be too alert if it's oil, it works better. THis will result in natural look.

Hope this helps::)
Reply:i think using self tanner on your face would look kindda fake...

because most people would want to tan your WHOLE face, and its kindda hard to tan around the hairline/eyes/mouth/sensitive spots....

plus a lot of those clog pores because theyre oil based (hence the lotion)

if youre going to do it anyway, be sure it doesnt turn your skin orange and make sure it isnt oil based!

zits that come with tans arent worth it
Reply:usually because they contain oil they advise you not to use it on your face. its up to you really, depending on your skin. if you break out easily, i wouldn't suggest using it on your face.

instead, check the store. most self tanners have a special formula designed for just the face and another for the body. its probably a good idea to buy the same brand for both your face and body, because then the color results will be the same.

Anyone know of any good tanning places/products/advice!?!?!?

I don't like tan line and i don't feel comfortable tanning without a bathing suit in my backyard (it has an open fence right by a walking trail) or outside in general so i am looking for a good (and inexpensive) tanning place in the DFW metroplex

I also want to know what the best products are to protect your skin while tanning but ones that still let you get a good tan.

I don't want to be super dark, i just want a healthy glow so i'm only going to start tanning for 20 mins about 2 times a week and if i need more to get the color i'm looking for i'll increase the time a little but not alot

so any advice or product knowlege whould be useful

and if you know of a good salon or have any coupons that would be great too!

Anyone know of any good tanning places/products/advice!?!?!?
try the moisturizing lotions like dove that give you a nice glow without being burnt to a crisp. just make sure you really cover your entire body and wash your hands after or you will get a stripy body and orange palms. but the results are really good. if you are afraid of screwing it up, ask a friend you trust to help you (someone you dont trust could end up with smiley faces on your back or something. good luck!
Reply:sunset tan.

also you could try a tanning baody wash. or buy a tanning bed off ebay.

I want to use your tanning products but what happens when I shower? How can I build a tan when I shower dail

your product says I can build a tan gradually by using it daily, but what happens when I shower? Dont most people shower daily?

I want to use your tanning products but what happens when I shower? How can I build a tan when I shower dail
It fades a bit when you shower but if you use the tanning lotion everyday it won't fade too much. Get the dial a tan by Hawaiian Tropics (I think). It worked really good and I don't tan at all usually.
Reply:i do but u have to let it dry for about 20 minutes then... u can get dressed... then ... you cant shower for about 12 hours so do it at night and shower in the morning
Reply:most tanning cremes last 4 something like 10 showers. look around and experiment. the bottle will usually say. good luck! =]
Reply:yeah it stays as long as you don't scrub with a loofah. and yes people shower every day.
Reply:well i spray tan with the neturgena bottle thing %26amp; after 7-9 hours after applying it i always shower becuase it evens it out. and it looks more real. so apply it daily and shower daily. like i do
Reply:take your shower, dry completely and then apply your tanner. if you put the tanner on and then get in the shower it will all wash off.
Reply:I own a tanning salon and most of our profit comes form selling our lotions. Lotions help the skin stay hydrated as you tan. Hydrated skin absorbs uv rays where as dry skin reflects it, so if you want to see good color and help protect your skin while you tan indoor or out you should always use a lotion. Some or your lotions have bronzers in them. This is only a slight stain that gives you instant color. It will wash off in the shower but if you use it often it will help you get really dark!
Reply:That's fine to shower daily. Maybe you should put it on at night, and then when you wake up, shower it all off so you're fresh and clean and you have a nice glow.
Reply:The tanner actually reacts with your skin to give you that glow, so showering will not hurt your tan. Just apply every day as directed to build the color.
Reply:use it after you shower

I have a really skrewed up sun-burn, and my grad dress is strapless, any good tanning products that can help??

Well, what happened was I was wearing a racer-back tank top, and I only sprayed a bit of sun-screen on my back. So I have burnt shoulders, a major tan line from the tank top, two unburnt spots on my back, and two burnt sports on my back. Grad is on the 27, so the burn should (hopefully) fade by then, but my tan is still going to be pretty messed up. Is there ANY products/ways to fix this?? That you have tried??

How do you remove sunless tanning products?

my daughter used Loreal Sunless Tanning product and went a bit overboard! She is a lovely shade of rusty orange and we are trying desperately to remove it. Any suggestions that folks may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank God she didn't do her face! :)

How do you remove sunless tanning products?
I always used to remove it with an exfoliating cleanser. Something that has some gritty texture in it. Bath and Body Works has a great one called I'm in the mood for a Scrub. It is Blue. Using a textured type of scrubbing washcloth is also helpful. B%26amp;B has many of these to choose from too.

Good luck and don't panic! It will come off.
Reply:she can go in the shower and gently scrub it off...it wont all come off but some will...but with tanning products once they get in your skin they stay there so the best thing to do is just wait.
Reply:you have to wait! Shaving your legs will help it go away faster, or using an exfoliant on your skin, i.e. apricot scrub or whatever.
Reply:She just needs to exfoliate her skin and it will lighten up immediately - using a loofa or sea salts

Lemon juice in the bath water will hep too
Reply:use a sugar and lemon juice mixture and exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate, some people use rubbing achohol also
Reply:lol I did the same thing when I used it I tried soap and shaving, but mine just took time to wear off
Reply:Try lemon juice
Reply:u have to wait for it to fade because it has already been absorbed into her skin it soon take about 2 weeks i would say with deep scrubbing when she takes a shower
Reply:You might try gently scrubbing the area with lemon juice. I'm not sure why, but that really does help.

Are their any self tanning suntan products that won`t turn you orange?

Can you use ordinary tanning products in tanning beds?

Do you have to use lotions specifically for tanning beds? Will it break the bed or the bulbs? I was told this and I believe it is just a ploy to get you to buy their product,

Can you use ordinary tanning products in tanning beds?
absolutely not

tanning lotions only maximize your tan and help it stay longer,

they're not necessary,

and when you do use one it doesn't matter what kind.

lotion is lotion.
Reply:I was told too that you are only supposed to use "indoor" tanning lotions for tanning beds and NOT outdoor lotions. They said it was bad for the bulbs. I think it was a load of sh*t. However, I still always used to indoor lotion because I thought it would work better.
Reply:I have never heard of products breaking the bulbs hmmm think that is a ploy....but it is better to use products designed for the sunbed as they help you develop a tan and also dry skin isn't the best to tan with...you don't get very far.
Reply:no, u should use there products if u want to get a better tan and i works better because they are designed for the tanning beds. i dont know about it breaking the bed.
Reply:Greasy oils or outdoor tanners will dull and discolor the special plastic cover, therefore the effective UV rays do not travel through %26amp; you don't tan as well. However, it is something that happens over time, so once or twice won't hurt but eventually it will ruin the bed.

Good tanning products???

Ok well i have very pale skin and some freckles and i know you think i burn easily but I DONT!! i like never wear sunscreen and im in the sun alot and i like dont have a burn ata ll.. but... anyways..any good tannign products?? (not self tanners like lotions or gels or sprays that will make you tan faster/darker)

Good tanning products???
well what else do you expect you either have the self tanners or the tanning booths.
Reply:Self tanning products are the best! You won't have to wory about skin damage, and with you haveing pail skin you are at a greater risk for developing problems in that area. Jergens Natral Glow is amazing!
Reply:Hey I have pale skin and freckles and I don't even know how to tan so I am not going to help any. srry.
Reply:I'm a tanning speicalist and I'm glad you're asking this!

If you want a fast way: Get bronzer/tanner. It'll give you results in one day.

If you want a natural look, that takes longer: Lay out in the sun for about two hours with a bikini on, but be sure to lather yourself in sun screan weather you use it or not. It's safer to tan in the sun with sun block.

You can find all of what you need; tanners, bronzers, spray tans, ect. at tanning solons or you can try a day spa too.

Hope I helped! Good luck and shine on!

Reply:The best I've tried hands down is the Lancome line...It's pricer than the drugstore brands but WELL worth it...looks real, doesn't streak and it's tinted so you see where it goes on...
Reply:Fake Bake- can be found at Sephora.com. When you apply it, it goes on dark, but dont be scared to put it on. Leave on overnight and wash off in shower next day. You will have a beautiful tan. BTW-dont forget to exfoliate.

Best tanning products to take on holiday???

Im going on holiday for one week, i normally go for 2, so i was wondering if ther was a product that would speed up tanning so i still get the same dark tan!?

I will use an spf as well as i know of the dangers of unprotected exposure.

thanks if u help!

Best tanning products to take on holiday???
If you are currently using a tanning product now then I suggest take it with you. It would be terrible for you to try something else on vacation and have a reaction to it.
Reply:try the moisturisers with a hint of tan in, they really work, it only took about 3 days for my legs to be darker than my mums who had them done at a beauty salon!
Reply:ambre solaire factor 2 oil will make u very dark but u mite need factor 3 or 4 first for a day or so
Reply:try taking the sun with you and keep outside
Reply:Be aware that if you are travelling by air then there are severe restriction as to what you can check through the security section. Don't buy a container larger than 100ml or IT WILL BE CONFISCATED !!

Take advice from other answerers as to the product because ironically you can then buy larger containers once you have checked through security.

Try your airline website for up to date information.
Reply:try a sunscreen containing oil.

nivea has a great one.
Reply:I recently bought a product for the same purpose, needed something to get me tan in a hurry so I could wear skirts etc. I bought 2 Lancome products, one for body and one for face. The face one is Soleil Flash Bronzer, "Instant self tanning cream instant bronze glow face". It has a little shimmer, so it was good for cheeks, nose %26amp; brow for a pale girl like me. The other was the new Flash Bronzer "Glow 'n Wear" tinted gel for body, Natural. It's a brownish gel (there was also a shimmer version but I decided I didn't want glitter all over my clothes). I rubbed it on, and it gave me a nice layer of color. It's great to see where it's going. Bonus- it DID NOT rub off onto my clothes! Neither product had any noticible smell. By the end of the day they had given me a nice subtle self tan. After 2 days I looked as though I had been to California or something. My trick is to apply wearing haircoloring gloves or the like, and skip elbows, or anyplace callused. But these are my favorite tanning products of all time (including those I loved from neutrogena). Plus they look nice in your bag! PS make sure to pack it and check it in your luggage, so the airline doesn't confiscate it. One note- there is no way to speed up the natural tanning process, your skin produces melanin (brown pigment) at its own rate. Self-tan is the only "quick fix".
Reply:Try a sunscreen with carrot oil about spf2 or 4 they're great for getting a quick tan, Banana Boat do good one's!

Any tanning products that won't make me orange?

since i'm too young to tan, and i don't to, i was wondering if you know of any products (mostly fast acting stuff like spray) that will give me that glow but not make me orange. please list the product and the store to find it at. THANKS!!!

Any tanning products that won't make me orange?
Girl you are very wise to not do the fake and bake thing, but on that note, a spray does have a tendency to make you orange. I use Jergens Natural Glow body lotion. It shows a vast improvement on your color after 2 days and then after 5 you really do have a NATURAL looking tan. I know you said you prefer spray, but this stuff really works. Use on a daily basis and you have soft skin and a nice tan. You can even buy the color that matches you. You can buy this at any supermarket. Good luck.
Reply:johnson touch of sun

it really works and it doesnt make you look blotchy!

do it layer by layer though...
Reply:Try the lotion by Jergens. It really works. They only bad part about it is that you have to wait through a few applications before you see a big change.
Reply:I wouldnt particularly buy tanning products, because most of the time they will make you orange. My friend last year came to school on the first day with completely orange skin, it was so awful, she had to scrub all over for hours to get it off. Anyway, To give you a subtle glow, i say you get :

Jergens natural glow daily moisturizer. It creates a healthy summer glow. You can buy one for fair skin tones, medium skin tones, and dark skin tones. It just depends on your skin color. Make sure not to buy one too dark, get your own skin color, and after you run out, you can start using a darker one.

You can get this at - Walmart, target, Walgreens, CVS. Its cost is around $7.99.

I am currently using Differin and I want to know if I can still use tanning products!?

Differin thins the skin is all I know. If you're just going to use a spray tan or something it should be fine. But I'm not entirely sure. If I were you I would do a google search on differin and tanning.

Does anyone have a lot of experience tanning (naturally+fake bake) AND using different self-tanning products?

I have just enough Native American in me to tan pretty easily and quickly, and I don't normally use sunscreen unless I'm out in the sun for %26gt; 1 1/2 hours, but this summer I want to be darker than I was the past couple years. So I wanna be somewhat health conscious. I plan to tan outside whenever I can, but I would like to know what products would be good for enhancing the natural tan I'm going for.

Also, I might do a little bit of fake baking. (I'm not a real big fan.) I know about the specialized lotions for tanning beds, but would using a typical low SPF lotion normally used for regular sun protection--to sort of help protect from damage during fake baking--completely defeat the purpose of going to the tanning bed in the first place?? I've been wondering this for awhile, so any advice or product recommendations would be a TON of help!

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have a lot of experience tanning (naturally+fake bake) AND using different self-tanning products?
Ok first of all...in response to that comment above. Tanning beds do not explode.

Like any electrical unit there is always the possibility of a spark but that is due to wiring and not the actual bulbs. There have been no cases of deaths by a tanning bed exploding and in fact only 1 case ever of deaths due to tanning and that was from 3rd degree burns because a person was taking severly strong antibiotics (which are photosensitive) that her friend had given her. She was using them as "tanning pills" over a period of time.

It was really due to her own stupidity and not the tanning idustry what so ever.

Anyway :) I prefer tanning indoors simply because I know the strength of the bulbs and they never change. Outside, the intensity of the sun can change every hour. Of course I would love to go to hawaii and I would sit out all day there!!

If you have indian in you, your right you probably do tan pretty easy but make sure to know how far your body can go. If you don't tan don't lay out etc.

I recommend 2 times a week for 2 or 3 weeks to build a tan and than 1 time a week after that.

My favorite lotion for getting really dark is Smoke's Black Bronzer. Smoke is a line made by 'Supre' you can look it up online. If you use it though make sure to wash your hands after tanning as it is so dark and will stain your palms.

I wouldn't bother with spf besides on your face and/or chest area. Anywhere you want to keep from aging. If you want to get tan though, why stop the process with sun BLOCK.

Just everything in moderation. Don't over do it for too long. It's like wine, it is recommend to have a glass a night, not a bottle.

If it makes you feel better...your body gets vitamin d from the sun. Vitamin d is essential and lowers the risks of many different forms of illness. More and more studies are proving that the sun can actually prevent more serious forms of cancer!!
Reply:If I was you I would forget about fake baking and real baking. These are absolute sure fire ways to develop skin cancer. Even the darkest of skins can develop this, so don't think you are immune.

Your only safe option is fake tan - either one you apply yourself or one of the spray ones they do in a salon. You may need to test patch first to see which colours/brands best suit your skin. If you go to a spray place they will be able to advise you which colour. In my country we are encouraged (and most people do it), to apply sunscreen every day of the year twenty minutes before leaving the house. Living in a country with the highest skin cancer rate in the world we have enough experience in this department to advise you not to sun bake or fake bake. The words that come to mind are: BLOCKOUT, SPF15+, AND SLIP SLOP SLAP
Reply:Stay out of the tanning beds! Did you know that they can explode? Do you want to die in a tanning bed fire? Just put on your swimsuit and head to the lake...get some exercise and sun at the same time.
Reply:sunless tanning makes you orange and if i were u, id lay on a floaty on water
Reply:Well, I recommend Mary Kay's sunless tanning lotion if you are going to "fake" it and gradually change into a darker shade. Also, don't forget to exfoliate before applying the sunless tanning lotion, this helps the lotion go on smoother. Mary Kay's SPF 30 is great for the regular sun tanning and a replenishing gel after wards is great for the skin.

We Natives, already have pretty decent tans, so there isn't much work needed but, if you want that little bit of help, check out Mary Kay.

Good Luck and Stay Safe.
Reply:Well I really don't tan since I'm already black. I just put on sunblock.
