What is a good sunless tanning product? I don't want to look orange.?

For a self tanner that doesn't turn your skin orange, try a gradual self tanning lotion. Its a blend of moisturizer and self tanner. When applied daily, it slowly builds up the color, giving your skin a natural looking tan. Or pick a regular self tanner that is white or clear when it comes out of the bottle. Those usually contain smaller amounts of DHA, which is a tanning agent, and won't develop too darkly. Try coppertone endless summer sunless tanning gradual tan moisturizing lotion, at drugstores. For your face, try jergens Natural glow.

some tips: take care of waxing or shaving the day before tanning, as it can strip color.

exfoliate skin with a scrub made especially for use with self tanner before applying. This will remove dead skin cells and help the color go on more evenly. make sure you are completly dry before putting on the self tanner. Try l'oreal paris sublime bronze scrub.

before applying the self tanner, moisturize and exfoliate dry areas, like elbows and knees, which absorb more color. This will ensure the product goes on evenly.

After application, wear loose fitting, dark clothing and don't excersise or shower for 8 hours.

use rubber gloves to avoid splotchy hands

always patch test before!

trouble shooting:

if your tanner is rubbing off on your clothes, apply it 30 minutes before bed. Immeaditly and throughly wash your hands after applying and then put on an old pair of pj's. If they get a little orange, it won't matter. When you wake up the next day, you'll have the color you want without ruining any of your good clothes.

streaks: rub a sliced lemon over the dark, uneven patches and their surrounding areas-the citric acid will remove the color. Wash off the lemon and dry your skin, then re-apply your self tanner, or use a lotion with salicylic or glycolic acid.

stained nails: to seal out any stains on your nails, coat your fingernails w/ clear polish before you put on self tanner. THen remove the polish after the tanner has been applied.

Bad smells- you're probably smelling DHA, the ingredient in most self tanners that colors your skin. As it develops, it reacts w/ your skin and causes an odor. Try applying your tanner at night and showering in the morning. but don't exfoliate, as it will scrub off some of the tan. Also try mixing lotion based tanner w/ a quarter sized blob of fragrance free body lotion.

also, here are some self tanners that I reccommend.

hope this helps!

False tans are really the answer for a tan all year round without the risks of UV damage either from the sun or tanning salon. The new gels, sprays and lotions no longer smell, go on streaky or look orange. For a really natural look just follow these steps and I promise you will get fantastic results: always apply after a bath or shower in which you used an exfoliating type product. Our body scrub contains little sandgrains that quickly and gently remove dead skin cells and blemishes. Skin gets a fresh glow and feels like silk. Then apply a moisturizer to the skin. Now apply your self tanning product. We of course recommend our Colosé auto-bronzant. Be sure to wash your hands right after application so they do give you away! Do this for a few days and you will have a very nice glowing look.
Reply:I think it all depends on your skin, cause I don't think the same product will work for everyone. Having said that, I have had a lot of luck with Coppertone Endless Summer. I don't know where you live but I'm in Canada, and that's what I use. Fools everyone too.
Reply:I like Jergens Natural Glow skin moisturizer. Its a lotion-that gradually changes the color of your skin. They have it for fair, medium and dark/tanned skin tones. Personally I mix the medium with a little bit of the dark/tan skin tone color. It doesn't streak or look orange. I use it every other day. Its about $7.00 per tube where I live.

After use wash the palms of your hands-they will turn "tan"
Reply:i first exfoliate in a warm shower with either a loofah or scrub IE. apricot scrub... then air dry make sure you are completely dry...then apply the neutrogena foam tanner (i get it at walmart) if there are streaks apply a small amount of lotion then wash hands.
